David Lapter (Dashlane, MakeSpace, Fab.com, KickApps) is a seasoned executive of venture-backed start-ups with over 12 years of experience leading finance and business operations at various ventures in the US and Europe. In this episode of Ventured Growth with Hercules Capital, Lapter joins Catherine Jhung to discuss how to be a master delegator as a CFO, things to consider when taking a CFO position, managing spending after funding rounds, and much more.
Three things to consider when taking a job as a CFO. Investing in your network. Scaling a fast-growing business. Delegating tasks and projects as an executive. Managing massive amounts of data. Setting clear checkpoints to measure the health of your business after funding rounds. The influence of being raised by Holocaust survivors. Finding drive, ambition, and passion in your work. And other topics.
David Lapter is currently the CFO of Dashlane. He has helped scale several other companies including MakeSpace, Fab.com, and KickApps. During his tenure in start-ups, David has led companies through numerous rounds of equity and debt funding, as well as buy and sell-side M&A activities. David graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a BScE in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management.
